This Week's Parsha
Bamidbar
This Dessert:
Record of Lineage
Everyone is instructed to bring Moshe documents showing their lineage in order for Moshe to accurately count each family and shevet.
What You Need:
Ingredients
1 roll cake, filled
1 roll cake, unfilled
1 cup white glaze
¼ cup chocolate frosting
Things
Knife
Large rectangle serving platter
Piping bag fitted with small circle tip
How to Make It:
Set the roll cake on one end of the serving platter with the end of the roll sticking out a little. Place the unfilled cake flat on the platter right next to the roll.
Straighten out the edge of the 2 cakes with a knife so that the cakes can lie flat next to each other. Move the cakes one right up against the other.
Pour on the glaze to completely cover the cake.
Fill the piping bag with chocolate frosting.
Pipe lines or a family tree on the cake.
A Roll Cake Recipe:
Vanilla Roll Cake (Just the roll, no filling)
Ingredients
4 eggs
¾ cups sugar
¼ cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
¾ cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Directions
Heat oven to 375℉.
In a medium bowl beat together eggs and sugar with a hand mixer until thick and pale yellow.
Continue beating, add in the water and vanilla.
Add the dry ingredients and mix to combine.
Line a 10x15 baking sheet with parchment paper.
Smooth the batter into the baking sheet.
Bake for about 12 minutes until golden.
Lay out a tea towel dusted with powdered sugar.
As soon as you take the cake out of the oven, flip the cake upside down onto the tea towel. Peel off the parchment paper. Immediately roll up the cake with the tea towel as tightly as possible without cracking it. Let cool completely.
