Ki Savo
This Dessert:
“Blessed shall you be in your kneading bowl”
Hashem tells Bnei Yisroel that if they follow the Torah they will have an overflowing kneading bowl among many other brachos.
What you Need:
Ingredients
1 sheet pastry dough
½ cup vanilla custard
Things
Mini cupcake tins
Knife
Piping bag
Scissors
How to Make It:
Cut the pastry dough into small squares about 4-inches x 4-inches so that they will line the cupcake tins when pressed inside.
Place one square in each cup and press it down into the muffin cup to form a pastry cup.
Bake according to the normal instructions for your dough.
When ready, remove the cups from the cupcake tins and let cool.
Fill a piping bag with vanilla custard.
Twist the top of the bag closed and cut off a small piece of the end of the bag.
When cool, fill each cup up to the top with custard until almost overflowing.
A Custard Recipe:
Pastry Cream (Custard)
Ingredients
2 cups coconut milk
5 egg yolks
½ cup sugar
5 tablespoons cornstarch, sifted
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Directions
Bring the milk to a boil in a small saucepan. As soon as it reaches a boil, remove from heat.
In a medium bowl, whisk eggs and sugar together until fluffy and pale yellow.
Whisk the cornstarch into the egg mixture until lump free.
Pour this mixture through a strainer into the milk in the saucepan.
Bring the entire mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly – it will thicken.
Once it reaches a boil immediately remove from heat and mix in the vanilla extract.
Cover with plastic wrap touching the cream so as not to form a skin.
Cool in the fridge.
Take it out of the fridge an hour before using.
